News You Can Use in Your New York Research

Recently, Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org added or updated collections with New York materials.

FamilySearch.org added more material to its New York, Records of the State National Guard, 1906-1954, which now contains 724,527 indexed records.

Ancestry.com has added more records to U.S., Newspaper Extractions from the Northeast, 1704-1930, which contains abstracts of marriage and death records taken from the following New York newspapers:

  • The New York Evening Post, Deaths, 1801–1885, and Marriages, 1801–1890
  • The Christian Intelligencer of the Reformed Dutch Church, Deaths and Marriages, 1830–1871
  • New York Weekly Museum, Deaths and Marriages, 1788–1817

    Max was my grandfather, he died before i was born. was 1948-1949. I did hear he committed suicide. I lived in that Walton ave. house until 1963. rose, my grandmother moved back ther and lived there until about 1971-1972 when she died.
