There are still spaces available for the “Genealogy and the Law” seminar with Judy Russell, the ‘Legal Genealogist’ on November 22, 2014. This is an all-day seminar hosted by the Genealogical Society of Bergen County. The seminar will focus on how legal issues affected our ancestors in ways we might not consider today and the records they left behind. This seminar is for genealogists of all levels of experience. From finding ‘missing’ women from early Colonial records to discovering the difference among the different types of wills and probate records, to the records of the unsavory doings of the ‘black sheep’ of the family, this seminar promises to delve into the record- replete (and often overlooked) world of legal archives.
