New NYTimes Indexing Project

NY-Times-Ad-Project-250pwThe New York Times has announced a new crowd-sourced indexing project. While the New York Times online archive has long been a great boon to genealogical researchers, this project aims to transcribe and tag, and therefore make machine-readable, the advertisements that run alongside the already transcribed articles. The process will utilize a newly designed tool called Madison, named after the New York City avenue which was once home to many advertising agencies. To read more about this project, and to become involved yourself, visit the New York Times website, here.
