Spots have become available for the popular NYG&B “Beyond the Basics” tour of the Municipal Archives of New York City on Friday, May 30 at 1:30 pm. Tickets are available in our online store.
“Beyond the Basics” focuses on the lesser known resources of the Municipal Archives, including City Cemetery (aka Potter’s Field) records, Bodies in Transit records, Almshouse History of Inmates, and more. After an introduction to the records by Marcia Kirk, the new Director of the Municipal Archives, participants may go on visits to the Visitor Center, City Hall Library, and the Conservation Lab, or they can spend the majority of their time in the Archives Reference Room conducting their own research. This program is a rare chance to research in the Municipal Archives when it is closed to the public, so there is no waiting for work stations or staff attention. NYG&B staff will be on hand to provide research assistance.
